The Norwalk River Nature Study

The trails here will lead you to the Norwalk River at several points. The river is stocked by the State for fishing. The seasonal pond near Simpaug Turnpike provides a breeding habitat for insects and amphibians. Wildflowers and wildlife, butterflies and birds, inparticular, abound. This State-owned area, taken for flood control, offers a view of a watershed and its various habitats in action and is used for a formal environmental study by Ridgefield Schools.
